Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has backed Chelsea to win against Newcastle United on Saturday.
League leaders Chelsea will be favourites heading into the encounter at St. James’ Park and are still unbeaten.
The Blues eased past London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, and Owen expects them to keep a clean sheet yet again.
“I’ll be at the game commentating for BT Sport and it’s hard to envisage anything other than the Blues going nine-points clear at the top of the Premier League table,” the 34-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Chelsea impressed in the midweek 3-0 defeat of Spurs at the Bridge and look the most likely Title winners after a near flawless start thus far.
“Jose Mourinho has never tasted success at St James’s Park before (D2 L2) however his side are unopposable in their current form and are fancied to win without conceding.”
Owen’s predictions are not always spot-on, but this time it could be true.
Chelsea will be without star defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic, but they still have enough quality to pick up all three points in Newcastle.
It will not be easy for the Blues, though, as Newcastle themselves are playing well and will fancy their chances of at least a draw.
Alan Pardew’s side have become defensively compact in recent matches, and they will need to play well at the back to contain a star-studded Chelsea line-up.
