Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson looks ahead to the Premier League clash between West Ham United and Swansea City.

Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson has said that he has been impressed with West Ham United so far this season.

The Hammers have been one of the surprise packages of the 2014-15 Premier League campaign and currently find themselves fifth in the standings with 24 points from 14 matches.

West Ham are actually level on points with fourth-placed Manchester United and a point clear of Arsenal, who are sixth.

Sam Allardyce’s side are in action on Sunday when they take on Swansea City at the Boleyn Ground, and Merson backs them to pick up all three points.

“I think both of these sides are good teams,” the 46-year-old wrote on Skysports.com. “I’ve been really impressed with West Ham.

“Even though I saw them lose at Goodison the other week, they were better than Everton and they’ve bounced back from that to a good result in midweek.”

West Ham will probably head into the match as favourites, but winning against Swansea City will not be easy.

The Swans are having a good season as well and will head into this weekend’s round of matches placed seventh in the table with 22 points.

Swansea will fancy their chances of winning in London, but perhaps the most likely outcome of the encounter will be a draw.
