It was a difficult night at the office for Tottenham Hotspur as they were well beaten 3-0 at Premier League leaders Chelsea.
Spurs fans would have gone into the game believing that they could end the jinx which has surrounded the club’s visits to Stamford Bridge since 1990, but they were left disappointed as goals from Dider Drogba, Eden Hazard and Loic Remy were enough to see the Blues over the line.
One player who had a decent game for Spurs was left-back Ben Davies, who is starting to look solid on the left after waiting patiently for a chance under first team boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Davies has been consistent in terms of his recent performances and is showing that he can be a long term left-back for the club.
He’s solid defensively and does well providing extra width going forward and will be disappointed that the side couldn’t back up his public confidence before the game yesterday.
It was always going to be a difficult game for Davies but he did well as Chelsea’s Willian drifted out of position and tried to pull him into certain areas, which would have left space in behind for other Chelsea stars to exploit.
However, he was disciplined and stuck to his position well, which meant Chelsea had to think outside the box in terms of how to get the better of him.
It was difficult for him to show off his attacking game because Spurs rarely had much of the match and his runs forward were predominantly confined to counter attacks because Chelsea retained the ball so well.
Here’s what Tottenham fans on Twitter made of his performance last night.

Impressed me for Spurs tonight - Bentaleb, Mason, Kane, Lamela, Eriksen & Davies hint at a bright future for Pochettino's men.— The 2 Robbies (@The2RobbiesFS) December 3, 2014
Really am not a big Ben Davies fan, can't see him coping with Willian and Ivanovic doubling up on him. They may not be spectacular..— Dom Seckle (@DomSeckle) December 3, 2014
