Southampton boss Ronald Koeman delivers update on potential January signings

The Saints head coach admits the club might 'have to do something' during the transfer window.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has suggested that the club may be forced to sign players during the January transfer window.

The South Coast outfit are currently suffering from a string of injuries, while they will also lose Maya Yoshida and Sadio Mane to international competitions at the start of 2015.

As such, the Southampton head coach admits he has already spoken with Saints' head of football Les Reed about January signings.

"There's the Asia Cup in January for Yoshida and the Africa Cup of Nations for Sadio Mane," Koeman told reporters.

"We spoke already with Les Reed about this situation. We are looking and maybe with these kind of injuries you have to do something."

Meanwhile, ahead of Southampton's clash with Manchester United, the Dutchman enthused: "There will be a team next Monday who can beat Man United for sure.

"I think [Louis Van Gaal] himself has enough injured players. He needs all things for his own team because they have a lot of injured players and now, little by little, we are also unlucky with injured players."
