Is Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez the best signing of the summer transfer window?
Asked to select his top five, former Gunner Charlie Nicholas selected the Chilean international as the most impressive new addition, edging out Cesc Fabregas into second place, with Diego Costa in third.
He told SkySports: "He has that desire and instinct in his head. When other players are struggling around him they must look at him and think ‘this guy is relentless’.
"There’s no sulking like other players, just absolute desire. He just edges Cesc, mainly because of the goals but also because he’s playing for a team who are lacking in form and fluency at the moment.
"With Sanchez playing as well as he is after just four months and with Mesut Ozil to come back, I’m backing Arsenal to finish in the top three ahead of Manchester United and Liverpool."
Both players are so good it is a little like splitting hairs, but Sanchez's goalscoring makes him a more standout candidate, despite Fabregas' prolific record of assists.
Both players have directly contributed to 11 Premier League goals, but when the two sides met it was Cesc who came out on top, setting up Diego Costa to score in a 2-0 win for Chelsea over the Gunners.
It should also be noted however that Fabregas has played in the Premier League before for several seasons and lived in the same city, while this is Sanchez's first year in England, and his achievements should be weighted accordingly to take account of his instant impact.
