Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has been singing the praises of teammate Alexis Sanchez.
The Chile international has been in superb form this season and has been the best player for the Gunners since his move from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has scored nine goals and created 33 chances in 13 Premier League appearances, while having a pass accuracy of 77% and a shot accuracy of 74%.
Sanchez has been brilliant in the Champions League as well, finding the target three times while creating seven chances for his teammates.
Mertesacker, who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany in Brazil in the summer, cannot praise the £35 million star enough.
“He’s unpredictable and even if he loses the ball, he¹s so quick in transition and that is absolutely amazing,” Arsenal’s official website quotes the 29-year-old as saying. “Every day he’s in and has so much energy.
“He’ll never give up and that’s the South American or Chilean mentality he brings to the squad. He scores vital winners for us and that keeps our confidence - and the confidence he can deliver every single game - high.
“That causes threats for any team in the world and I’m very pleased with his performances and pleased to have him here.”
Sanchez was on the books of Spanish giants Barcelona for three years, but he was let go in the summer as he did not quite fit into their style of play.
The Premier League, though, seems perfect for the former Udinese star, who has taken to English football like a duck to water.
The Chilean’s pace, dibbling skills, finishing and vision have all been crucial in Arsenal maintaining their challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Sanchez has been, without doubt, Arsenal’s best player this season. One wonders how the Gunners would fare without the Chilean…
