Neil Redfearn is confident that Leeds United will not have to sell their young stars anytime soon.
Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn is confident of holding onto the young players in the team.
The Championship outfit have a number of talented youngsters, such as Alex Mowatt, Sam Byram, Lewis Cook and Adryan (on a season-long loan deal from Flamengo).
In recent weeks, there have been reports that some Premier League clubs are monitoring the developments of these youngsters.
Given that Leeds are currently in the Championship and do not appear to be in the fight for a playoff spot, many would suggest that it would be easy for the top English clubs to sign their top young players.
However, Redfearn has no worries about losing his star youngsters anytime soon.
Redfearn starts by hailing Alex Mowatt: “He’s having an outstanding season. He’s an integral part of what we do.” #lufc— Leeds United FC (@LUFC) December 4, 2014
Redfearn says the players have “really bought into what we’re asking them to do” – “We’re trying to build a team.” #lufc— Leeds United FC (@LUFC) December 4, 2014
Redfearn says “this is one of the biggest clubs in the country” & believes #lufc are “in a good place” to hold onto the young talent.— Leeds United FC (@LUFC) December 4, 2014
Redfearn has been crucial in the introduction to the Leeds first team of some of the youngsters, and he is right in saying that Leeds can hold onto them for the time being.
What about the future? If Leeds fail to gain promotion to the Premier League in the next couple of years, one wonders whether the youngsters themselves would want to move on.
