Manchester City morning news: Pellegrini happy with form, update on Kompany

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says the trust in the side is growing.

City completed a comfortable victory over Sunderland last night to keep the pressure on Chelsea, who also defeated Tottenham.

Pellegrini believes City are getting close to the form which saw them win the league title last season.

Pellegrini also confirmed the club are still sweating over the fitness of club captain Vincent Kompany.

The Belgian’s injury is not as bad as first feared but it’s touch and go as to whether he’ll be fit for the Champions League game next week.

“Vincent is improving and maybe it is not such a serious injury as we thought at the beginning - but he needs to see the whole week and we will see what happens with him,” said the Chilean.

The MLS won’t interfere if Frank Lampard’s loan at Manchester City is extended.

There has been vast speculation over whether the midfield will stay at the club beyond January.

Fresh reports suggest the governing body of football in the USA won’t intervene to prevent him from doing so.
