French paper suggests strange reason for Lloris performance against Chelsea

Hugo Lloris

L'Equipe says it wasn't Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris' fault that he wasn't in his best form last night.

French newspaper L’Equipe has leapt to the defence of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris following his performance for Tottenham Hotspur against Chelsea last night.

The Frenchman wasn’t on top form at Stamford Bridge as Spurs lost 3-0, but rather than attribute blame towards the shot stopper, L’Equipe suggests that his average performance was Tottenham’s fault.

The French paper’s theory is that the mistakes of his Tottenham teammates have been rubbing off on Lloris, who has been one of the club’s standout players and a definite world class performer in their current squad.

He’ll definitely play a part over the rest of the season if Spurs are to fulfil on their ambition to get into the top four and secure Champions League football but it’s a bizarre claim for them to make, regardless of how highly they rate the French goalkeeper.

Lloris has been consistent for Spurs whereas the reports surrounding him and his situation at the club have been anything but.
