Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Zeki Fryers insists that the club's supporters do not need to worry about Erik Lamela, as he will come good soon.
Fryers played with Lamela last season, before moving to join Crystal Palace this summer, and he has no doubts about the Argentine winger's ability.
“I think Erik Lamela's settled in now with the lads at Spurs,” Fryers told Palace's official site. “He’s got a lot of ability, it’s coming out of him more and more and I think the fans at Spurs don’t have to worry, they’re going to see a lot more of him."
Lamela has struggled to make an impact at White Hart Lane, showing his ability only in fleeting moments at White Hart Lane.
While there have been flashes of match-winning quality, he has failed to show any sort of consistency and he is becoming a source of frustration at the side now.
Fryers has seen the 22-year-old's potential first-hand, though, and his comments should be encouraging for Spurs fans.
The Palace man also had kind words about one of his former team-mates who is making a rather better impression at Spurs.
Harry Kane has been in scintillating form over the season so far and Fryers is not surprised to see the youngster showing his worth.
"He’s a good lad and after stepping up to the first-team he's taken his opportunity," the former Manchester United trainee said. "He’s doing really well.”
Fryers will be in direct competition with his former club this weekend, if he is selected to start against them.
Palace travel to White Hart Lane to face Spurs and the speedy defender will be aiming to show his former employers exactly what they are missing in the contest.
