Nottingham Forest defender Danny Fox believes that his side can achieve promotion to the Premier League if they add consistency to their game.
Forest are currently ninth in the Championship table with 28 points from 19 matches, just three points behind sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers.
Fox was part of the Southampton team that achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2012, and he believes that the current Forest side is as good as that Saints squad.
“I think we’ve got a squad as good as the one we had at Southampton when we got promoted to the Premier League,” Forest’s official website quotes the left-back as saying.
“If we can become more consistent in our results there’s no reason why we can’t achieve what we did. Everyone has played in the Championship, if not the Premier League, and there are internationals in the squad.”
It is a bold statement from Fox, and one that many may not agree with.
Whether that is correct or not remains to be seen, but it is clear that Forest need to be more consistent. In the month of November itself, Stuart Pearce’s side’s record reads: LLWWL.
Forest are still very much in contention of a top-six finish in the Championship this season, and if they can put together a run of positive results, then they could very well be fighting for the top two positions.
