Chelsea players took to Twitter on Wednesday night to celebrate their 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
A ruthless Chelsea claimed a 3-0 win home win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night to maintain their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Despite a promising start from Tottenham, it was the hosts who took the lead on 19 minutes through Eden Hazard, before Didier Drogba doubled their advantage less than 180 seconds later.
Substitute Loic Remy’s second-half strike sealed the result for Jose Mourinho’s side, with the Portuguese boss haling their performance in the absence of the suspended Diego Costa after the match.
“We had difficult moments that weren’t our fault,” he told Sky Sports News HQ. “You have to give Tottenham credit, they started very well in both halves. They are a very good team, they have the principles of their game well established and it is not easy to play against them so we have to be happy.
“If they had scored when [Harry] Kane hit the bar or the chance then the game could have been different. They went for it, but after that our team was strong and defended very well.”
Having equalled the club-record 23-game unbeaten run set in 2007 and repeated in 2009, the Blues squad were just as delighted with the result, with Drogba, Cesar Azpilicueta and Oscar all taking to Twitter after the match to express their delight at another three points.
