Adam Matthews reveals Celtic's biggest weakness - but fires warning to Motherwell

Celtic Champions League

The 22-year-old was reflecting on his side's 1-0 win over Partick Thistle.

Adam Matthews believes Celtic deserved more than a one-goal win against Partick Thistle last night but is concerned that the side aren't taking their chances.

Ronny Deila's men are nevertheless three points clear at the top of the SPL following Virgil van Dijk's 60th-minute winner.

But the 22-year-old has stressed the importance of Celtic being more clinical in front of goal.

"Our performance deserved more than 1-0 but we didn't take our chances. Luckily for us, we got the three points & that’s the main thing," Matthews told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

"We’re looking to keep the good run going because we’re starting to show what we can do now, although we could have won the game by more.

"In the last few weeks, we've shown what a good team we are. It was always going to take time but we’re showing what we can do under Ronny."

And, ahead of Saturday's early kick-off against Motherwell, Matthews fired a warning to Celtic's opponents:

"Motherwell will take confidence from the last time they played us but we’re a different team now. Our goal is to try and remain unbeaten in the league for the rest of the season, although it’s going to be tough."
