Tottenham Hotpsur's Harry Kane says that negativity towards his only serves to drive him on.
Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane has told how negative opinions with regard to his talent only serve to drive him on.
The 21-year-old has emerged as the key player in Tottenham's attack, with his tireless running and knack for scoring important goals making him a fan favourite.
It's really been a breakthrough season for the youngster, but his success was not always assured, and even this season he says he has heard the doubters, but intends to prove them wrong.
"Comments like that just make me want to succeed more and prove them wrong. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. The negative ones against me only serve to drive me on."
Only this week, he has been written off by former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin, who said: "I do not see Kane as a striker. He doesn't hold the ball up well. He's a big, strong lad but his touch isn't good enough."
Spurs take on Chelsea on Wednesday night, and if Mauricio Pochettino has heard Nevin's comments, he would be wise to show them to Kane ahead of the game - to bring an even brighter performance out of the player who has become the club's talisman.
