Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling will have sent shivers down the spines of more than a few Reds fans this afternoon after he took to Twitter to send an ominous if mysterious message.
Less than 24 hours after taking to the field against Leicester City the England international wrote, “My ankle is in bits.”
The tweet was taken down almost immediately, but the Daily Star moved swiftly to publish an image of the tweet that was posted at 1:22pm GMT.
Sterling put in one of his best performances of the season in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory before he was substituted late on to be replaced by defender Dejan Lovren.
If the teenager has suffered a serious injury it will be a massive blow for a side who are looking on the up after recording back-to-back victories following a stuttering start to the new campaign.
