Sporting Lisbon are reportedly interest in re-signing Galatasaray winger Bruma.
Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has reportedly put signing a winger at the top of his list of priorities, with Adam Johnson and Will Buckley struggling to make an impact this season.
His first choice target is believed to be Galatasaray ace Bruma, who joined the Turkish side from Sporting Lisbon in a €10m deal last summer.
The 20-year-old, originally from Guinea-Bissau, has represented Portugal at every youth level having emerged as a potential star with Sporting.
Despite reported interest from Chelsea, Turkish press believe that Bruma could be set to move to Sunderland on loan in January as he seeks first team football away from Galatasaray.
However, whilst the Black Cats were deemed as favourites for his signature, their hopes have been dealt a huge blow after Sporting registered an interest in re-signing him.
According to Turkish newspaper Miliyet, Sporting have asked Galatasaray if they can take Bruma on loan for the rest of the season so he can play more games.
Yet their pursuit of Bruma is almost certainly going to raise question marks over the future of Nani, who is another winger who made a return to Sporting this summer.
The 28-year-old is on loan for the season, but recent speculation has linked him with a return to Old Trafford - and Sporting's fears of losing him could lead to a bid for Bruma.
Galatasaray seem willing to let Bruma leave permanently, and Sporting would be better served spending their money on a younger player, who will be on considerably less wages than Nani.
Sunderland appear to still be in the race for Bruma, but links to Ajax's Lasse Schone suggest that Poyet is already looking at possible alternatives.
