Manchester City latest: Early team news; Toure joins important campaign

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City take on Sunderland this evening with Premier League leaders Chelsea back in their sights.

The reigning champions are now six points behind Jose Mourinho’s side, but the Black Cats will be quietly confident of building on their 0-0 draw at the weekend when they face a side against which they have a very impressive recent record.

In early team news, the BBC reports that City are definitely without Vincent Kompany due to a hamstring injury while Eliaquim Mangala is currently suspended.

As a result, Martin Demichelis is likely to be partnered in the heart of City’s defence by either Gael Clichy or Dedryck Boyata.

In other news, City midfielder Yaya Toure has been raising awareness of Ebola, joining with other footballers to launch a campaign.

As reported by the Mirror, Toure is one of the players included in videos hailing the work of health workers in West Africa.

“I could not sit back without doing something to help fight Ebola,” the City star said.
