The Spanish forward helped Sevilla to a 11-2 aggregate win in Spain.
Liverpool came out on top ahead of many suitors in the chase to sign the talented Spaniard forward Iago Aspas last summer. They ended up paying Celta Vigo a fee in the region of £7.7 million for his services in June 2013 but Aspas struggled in his debut England term.
The physical nature of English football did not agree with Aspas who only managed 15 games and one goal for Liverpool last term before being shipped out on loan to Sevilla this campaign.
While he has been used sparingly in La Liga he is an important member of the side when it comes to cup competitions - scoring in the Europa League and last month hitting a hat-trick in a 6-1 win against Sabadell in the Copa Del Rey.
Sevilla won the game 6-1 and Aspas was the star of the show.
He scored a hat-trick in the game as Sevilla romped to victory, including a sensational volley to make the game 2-0 after 43 minutes.
But even after that performance he remained a back up player in the league. This week the second-leg of that Sabadell tie came around so he could try and bag some goals again.
He was not disappointed.
Sevilla thrashed Sabadell once again. This time they thwacked home five goals, Aspas again scoring a hat-trick, including a delicious chip. With Liverpool's current crop struggling to have the desired impact at Anfield it makes you wonder what Aspas has to do at both his loan club and his current parent club Liverpool.
The 11-2 aggregate score sees Sevilla through to the next round, with Aspas scoring six of their 11 goals.
He will hope to bag more as soon as possible.
