The West Ham forward was all too happy to engage in some friendly banter with his ex team-mate.
Now at Ipswich, the club Aaron Cresswell traded for the Hammers this season, the 26-year-old took a keen interest in West Ham's 2-1 win over West Brom last night.
And, to his shock, target man Andy Carroll turned provider for midfielder Kevin Nolan - something that is mostly the other way around.
Collison tweeted his surprise and also praised the 'dangerous duo.'
Carroll, meanwhile, responded with a humorous tweet of his own.
@Jcollison31 your not wrong mate told him again any chance of an assist in return. Great result!!— Andy Carroll (@AndyTCarroll) December 2, 2014
Collison appears to have made a wise move joining Ipswich in that, of any of his potential destinations, he couldn't have picked a team that would go on to enjoy a better campaign.
Mick McCarthy's side currently sit second in the Championship, just one point behind Derby County.
Collison's old team-mates, however, who he is clearly still on good terms with, aren't doing too badly themselves.
Indeed, Sam Allardyce's West Ham side are fifth in the Premier League, only three points off second-placed Manchester City.
