Aston Villa supporters have been left purring over the ability of Christian Benteke, after the striker provided them with a victory over Crystal Palace last night.
Benteke scored the only goal of the match to end Villa's nine game winless streak and it was further evidence of how important he is to the side.
The 24-year-old had been out since picking up a red-card against Tottenham Hotspur, but returned to devastating effect yesterday evening and Paul Lambert will be hoping he can lead the line for the foreseeable future now, without any set-backs.
Benteke's goal was one of the only moments of quality in what was a poor game between two sides who look likely to be amongst the relegation candidates.
The Belgian international dribbled with the ball for a considerable distance, before tucking it into the far corner, giving Villa a vital three points.
The pressure is still not totally off Lambert, but this result should at least appease the Claret and Blue supporters for a while, with Benteke's quality taking much of the focus off his tactics.
Villa moved up to 12th in the Premier League table, and five points clear of the drop-zone, as a result of their victory, while Palace dropped down to 15th.
Here is the best reaction from Villa fans on social media site Twitter to Benteke's performance.
This team without Benteke would be prime relegation candidates, no doubt for me. #AVFC— Matt (@villamatt1874) December 3, 2014
We should make the most of Benteke while we have him. He'll go to a massive Club for a massive fee one day. #AVFC— Matt (@villamatt1874) December 3, 2014

It hasn't even fully sank in yet that we won last night and Benteke scored on his return. I'm so happy.— Ben (@FCBeninho) December 3, 2014
