United morning news: Player ‘needs guarantees’; twist in winger chase

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez wants reassurances regarding first-team football before he agrees a permanent move away from Old Trafford.

In quotes published by ESPN, the Mexican said, “I am not sure what will happen in the summer yet, but whatever happens I need guarantees.

“I am 26 now – in the summer I will be 27 – I must be at a club where I am going to be playing regularly.”

In other news, the Daily Mail claims Manchester City are set to beat United to the signing of 15-year-old Venancio da Silva Monteiro.

The Benfica winger was allegedly on the verge of signing for United but the player’s father is now said to be considering an offer from the Blues.

And finally, the Daily Star reports that an unnamed Qatari club have bid for alleged United target and current Trabzonspor striker Abdul Majeed Waris.

Given the front-men currently at Old Trafford and the young players coming through, it remains to be seen if Louis van Gaal really is interested in adding to that area of his squad.
