Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has highlighted the improvements that the side made against Everton on Sunday.
“It’s a great feeling for us because we did the hard work on the pitch all together as a team,” Tottenham’s official website quotes Lloris as saying.
“It’s not easy to keep possession of the ball during the whole game and today we stayed strong, compact, and we didn’t give any opportunity for our opponents to play behind our backs using the space.
“We were strong and we showed a big improvement in the game, but now we have to keep to this level and stay consistent until the end of the season.”
The key to Tottenham’s success this season will be to maintain the level of performance they displayed against Everton, an aspect Nabil Bentaleb underlined as well.
"It was a really good performance but now we have to keep going, we can’t stop, we have to improve and keep showing everyone what we can do," he said.
It will easier said than done, though, as next up for Tottenham is a clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Chelsea are the current Premier League leaders and are yet to suffer a defeat, and they will head into the game as the favourites.
Winning against a resurgent Everton side at White Hart Lane was not easy, but Tottenham will have to raise their game even further against Chelsea.
Player-for-player Chelsea have a better team, but, as Lloris and Bentaleb suggests, if the Spurs players build on their victory over Everton, then an ‘upset’ could be on the cards.
