Tottenham Hotspur produced a unique stat last weekend which will be difficult for them to replicate against Chelsea.
Tottenham’s stars quite literally worked their socks off in the game against Everton last weekend, achieving a stat which saw them better every other side with a Premier League game.
Tottenham’s players ran five kilometres more than any other side in England’s top flight last weekend, which suggests that Mauricio Pochettino is starting to translate across some positive points which were first displayed during his time at Southampton.
Reports of double training sessions for Tottenham players would have been a worry for fans considering the higher number of games the team has to play in the current season.
However, the fitness that has enabled Spurs to build up, allows them to press higher up the pitch when they don’t have possession for longer periods of time and that made it difficult for Everton to break away from their own penalty area.
It’s doubtful, with the game coming so soon, whether Spurs will be able to produce something similar against a Chelsea side tomorrow night which is likely to stretch and test Tottenham’s stars to the limit.
