Should Leeds United go back for Sassuolo’s Leonardo Pavoletti?

Leeds United East Stand

Leonardo Pavoletti was wanted by Leeds United in the summer transfer window. Should the Whites make an approach in January?

The agent of Leonardo Pavoletti has revealed that his client was on the radar of Leeds United.

The 26-year-old striker is currently playing for Serie A club, but he could have easily been featuring for Sassuolo, claims Danilo D’Ambrosio.

“At the moment he is at Sassuolo,” Sport Witness quotes him as telling TMW. “He is finding little playing time and this we regret a lot.

“We thought that this time he would play more but these are technical choices. In January we have an agreement with Sassuolo to evaluate his situation.

“He was wanted by many teams like Cesena, Genoa, Leeds and other English teams. For January it is too early to talk about it we will decide together with Sassuolo.”

It seems that it was Pavoletti who wanted to remain at Sassuolo, but as things stand, he is on the fringes of the first team.

Given how things are going at Leeds at the moment, it is unlikely that they will go back for a player who snubbed them in the summer transfer window.

Moreover, given that Pavoletti is struggling for playing time, one wonders why Leeds will want to recruit him in the middle of the season.

Neil Redfearn’s side are well stocked in attack, and Pavoletti is only going to be a squad player - a factor that is not going to attractive to the player.
