Robbie Blake looks back on Leeds United’s 2-0 victory over Derby County in the Championship at the weekend.

Robbie Blake has underlined the importance of Leeds United’s victory over Derby County in the Championship.

The Whites returned to winning ways on Saturday when they got the better of Derby at Elland Road in the Championship.

It was one of the best performances of the season from Neil Redfearn’s side, who had Mirco Antenucci scoring both the goals in the 2-0 success.

The win has lifted Leeds up to 15th in the Championship table with 23 points from 19 points, eight points behind sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers.

Blake, a former Leeds player, has now given his opinion on the significance of the win against Derby.

“It’s a massive statement, not only for the lads but also for the supporters and the manager,” he told Radio Yorkshire. “You can see that Neil’s stamp on the team is now starting to come…

“This was the real test and they came through with flying colours. If this does not kick them on in terms of a group and in terms of a team, then they are going to struggle.”

Leeds are back in action on Saturday when they take on Ipswich Town away from home.
