The future of Tottenham Hotspur defender Vlad Chiriches could be decided this week with reports from CdS that his agent is due to meet with Inter Milan before the close of play on Friday.
Chiriches has struggled to force his way into the first team picture under Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane, which has led to speculation over him leaving the club this winter.
Tottenham are well stocked in terms of central defensive options and several clubs are thought to have already started laying the groundwork over deals to tempt the Romanian away from North London.
Jan Vertonghen, Federico Fazio, Younes Kaboul and Eric Dier are all ahead of him in the pecking order and all seem to be preferred by the club’s Argentinian manager this season.
Inter would be a good destination for him and preferable for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy over selling to one of the club’s main rivals such as Arsenal, who are also thought to be interested.
While a physical deal can’t take place before the end of the week, Chiriches’ agent can orchestrate a situation where Inter Milan become the main players with regards to his future.
His future could be decided by the end of the week if Inter are positive with what they say to the player’s agent and vice versa, as both parties look to come to some sort of agreement ahead of the January transfer window.
If Spurs get a good fee for the player, whether that’s Inter or any other club, Pochettino will be able to reinvest that in other more pressing areas of the squad where Tottenham are in need of new players ahead of an important second half to the season.
