Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has backed Romelu Lukaku to score for Everton against Hull City tonight.
The Belgium international is likely to be included in the Toffees’ starting line-up for the Premier League clash at Goodison Park.
The 21-year-old has scored five goals and created nine appearances in 13 league appearances, and Owen believes that the former Chelsea youngster will add to his tally against the Tigers.
“The Tigers have failed to score in four of their last five games and Everton will be keen to put behind a below par performance at White Hart Lane last weekend,” ex-England international Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Romelu Lukaku had an excellent game against Wolfsburg in the Europa League last Thursday before misfiring against Spurs and he will be very keen to find the back of the Tigers’ net at Goodison.”
Lukaku has yet to hit the heights of last season, but there have been recent signs that he is gradually getting back to his prolific best.
The Belgian has linked up well with Everton teammate Samuel Eto’o and had done his job well enough when asked to play out wide by manager Roberto Martinez.
Everton, who lost to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday, will head into tonight’s encounter against Hull as the favourites.
The Merseyside outfit have picked up 17 points from 13 matches, while Hull are six points behind them.
