Manchester City morning news: Surprise Lampard alternative emerges, Toure ready to fight

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Manchester City are reportedly considering Alex Song as a replacement for Frank Lampard.

Lampard is owned by City’s sister club New York City with no concrete news over whether he’ll stay at the club for the rest of the season.

Song is on loan at West Ham from Barcelona and the Spanish club could be open to selling him.

Pablo Zabaleta has purred over Lampard, revealing that he’s still playing like a teenager.

Lampard has shown no signs of losing any of his effectiveness since he left Chelsea and joined City on loan.

“He won everything with Chelsea, he’s a legend in football and he’s still playing like he’s 18 years old,” said the Argentine.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure says he’s fully focused on playing catch up and hunting down Chelsea in the title race.

City are currently chasing a six point gap after clawing back two points last weekend.

“But we've just got to fight until the end; our squad is fantastic and we know exactly how to fight all the way in this league,” said Toure.
