Leeds United's Adryan is more than just a flashy Brazilian; he can also battle with the best of them.
Leeds United's 2-0 win against Derby County on Saturday was a result that could transform the Whites' season.
Having slipped to an unlucky defeat to Blackburn Rovers a week earlier, Neil Redfearn's side showed what they were made of to overcome the league leaders in emphatic style, with summer signing Mirco Antenucci netting both goals for the hosts.
But while the Italian stole the headlines for doing what he is paid for, another recent arrival stood out for doing a job that may not have been expected of him when he first arrived at Elland Road.
Adryan is an attacking midfielder with talent, confidence and an undeniable passion for his loan club if his regular messages on social media are any indication. But against Derby the Leeds player showed another string to his bow, winning an impressive nine duels against a side prevented from getting into its stride.
Adryan won more duels than any of his fellow midfielders, with Tommaso Bianchi in particular put in the shade by the youngster. He may have struggled to influence the game in the second half, but the Brazilian showed he is not afraid to put his foot in and he will come out on top more often than not.
That is the kind of player Leeds need, and the kind they will do very well to hold on to for the long term.
