The co-op survival game from Epic Games is now ready for players to test.

Fortnite has entered its Alpha, and invites have been sent out, according to the game's blog. 'Online Test 1', as the devs are calling it, is the first Aplha which sees the game put into players' hands, and will run from 2nd to 19th December.

Fortnite is Epic Games' new title which is the first to use Unreal Engine 4. It's a co-op survival game in which players must scavenge gear, build their fort, and then work together to fend off waves of monsters.

The Alpha is being run to gather feedback from players, and it's mainly about testing "all of the basic stuff, from the launcher to all the game systems."

The devs reassures everyone that if you haven't received an invite yet, there are still more to be sent out later in the week, so hold tight.

You can sign up for the Alpha over on the game's website.

In the short video below the devs tell us about a match they played a little while ago. They talk about a base they built, and the subsequent onslaught from the monsters.

Fortnite is due for release some time in 2015 on PC.
