Reports at the weekend claimed Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino was keen on bringing Kevin Kampl to White Hart Lane.
The Red Bull Salzburg winger is enjoying a fine season in the Austrian Bundesliga, where he has scored nine goals and provided 13 assists so far.
According to a report in the Sunday People last weekend, Tottenham had reportedly scouted Kampl when he came up against Celtic in the Europa League, and when you consider his record of providing assists and Spurs' lack of such things in recent times, the report becomes increasingly credible.
The 24-year-old Slovenia international has 51 assists in 106 matches for Salzburg, a tremendous record and one that has allegedly got Pochettino's attention.
As you can see below, Tottenham's current players have managed just 13 assists between them in the Premier League this season - that is the equivalent of what Kampl has managed on his own in all competitions (he has six in the league to date).
So while there will be plenty of transfer rumours doing the rounds in the run-up to the latest transfer window, the one linking Kampl with Tottenham makes considerably more sense than most.
