Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia answered questions from the club’s Hispanic supporters.

Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia says he could play in central midfield and comments that teammate Radamel Falcao motivates the team to do better.

The Ecuadorian international celebrated his 200th appearance in all competitions on Saturday, five years after joining the Red Devils from former Premier League side Wigan Athletic.

It has been a challenging campaign so far for United as a number of injuries have hindered their ability to put out a consistent side and it has affected their Premier League results.

Defensively, boss Louis van Gaal has had to change both personnel and shape almost on a weekly basis and marauding winger Valencia filled in at right-back during the 3-0 victory over Hull City.

Valencia, 29, was happy to play out of position for the team and when quizzed by fans in a Q&A session regarding his a possible new role, the Hispanic winger admitted he could play at central midfield.

“One or twice I have played with United in the middle, also with Ecuador,” he told the club’s official website. “It doesn’t matter what position they ask you to play in, you should play with all your heart. The most important factor is to play well and for the group to be happy with your performance.”

The former Villarreal man has been joined by four other Hispanic players this summer, including world-class striker Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan deal.

The Colombian international has featured only sparsely this season as a result of an ongoing injury though he is expected to return to action imminently.

When asked what the former Atletico Madrid player offers the team, Valencia praised his teammate motivational skills and added the squad are looking forward to his return.

“He motivates all of his teammates, and we are very happy he is returning to the field. We are confident that he will play a good role for the team.”
