1) Manchester United consider €36m Godin move

Manchester United are strongly considering a move for Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin, The Telegraph have reported. The defender has a €36 million release clause in his contract, but tempting him away will not be easy. Chelsea showed an interest in the centre-back over the summer, only for the defender to elect to stay with Diego Simeone's side. The 28-year-old was arguably Atletico's best defender during their run to the Champions League Final, while United have previously been linked to his partner Miranda.

2) Four other defenders targeted by United

The Mail also report Godin's interest, and claim four alternatives are being considered by Louis van Gaal. One is the frequently linked Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels, and another being Dutch international Ron Vlaar of Aston Villa. A spectacular name linked is Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, while Aleksandar Dragovic of Basel is perhaps the most intriguing option. United scouts may get the chance to have a close look at him when the Swiss side travel to Anfield next week in the Champions League.

3) Four want Salah on loan

Chelsea want to move Mohamed Salah on, but only on loan, with Jose Mourinho unwilling to give up on the winger just yet. The Mirror have linked four Premier League sides with an interest, including Everton, QPR, Sunderland, and Stoke City. Salah nearly signed for Liverpool last January, but his decision to move to Chelsea instead has not worked out for him, unable to establish himself in the first team.

4) Vlad Chiriches in more negotiations

The future of Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches could soon become clearer, with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport reporting the Romanian's agent will hold talks with Inter Milan and Napoli later this week. It was claimed last week Roma had made an approach, and this is likely a case of the defender exploring his options. The paper write that Spurs are happy to loan with an option to buy. Juventus had previously been linked with a loan deal for the defender. Chiriches had recently broken back into the Spurs team at right-back, but Kyle Walker's imminent return will prevent this become a regular occurrence.

5) Newcastle want Ings

Newcastle United are the latest side to show an interest in Danny Ings. The Mirror report they are keen on the Burnley forward who has four goals in 10 games this season. Ings' contract runs out at the end of the current season, and Southampton were yesterday credited with a desire to sign him too. QPR are also said to be admirers, but its unclear if Burnley would consider a sale in January, despite the fact he could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
