Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom continued his stunning run of form, bagging a hat-trick against Brighton for the under-21s.
Akpom made it nine goals in eight games for the under-21s this season, demonstrating why a first team chance is not far off.
The 19-year-old started for the club in pre-season, and has been on the fringes ever since. He was strongly considered for a start last week against Borussia Dortmund with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck out, only for Yaya Sanogo to get the nod instead.
The only worry for the Gunners is Akpom's contract expires at the end of the season, and has not yet been renewed. With Benik Afobe scoring for fun on loan at MK Dons, there could be even more competition for him.
With a busy run of first team fixtures upcoming over the next month, there is a chance Akpom could still get a chance.
His best option could be in the Champions League encounter against Galatasaray, with Giroud ineligible again, and Arsenal already qualified for the next round.
