Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen comments on Angel di Maria, Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar…

Michael Owen has hailed the signings of Alexis Sanchez and Diego Costa by Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.

While Sanchez left Barcelona for the Gunners in the summer transfer window, Costa moved to the Blues from Atletico Madrid.

Owen believes that the two players are better recruitments than Manchester United’s Angel di Maria and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.

“I think him and Costa look real value for money,” the ex-United and Liverpool striker wrote on Sportlobster.com when asked if Sanchez is the signing of the season. “I’d say those two were better value than the likes of Di Maria and Rodriguez.

Owen also had special praise for former United goalkeepers Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar.

“Against is Peter Schmeichel,” said the Englishman when asked about the best goalkeeper he has played with and against. “Best I've played with is Van Der Sar, I'd put him ahead of Casillas.”

Meanwhile, former United stars Paul Scholes and Phil Neville were at the Mestalla on Sunday to watch the La Liga clash between Valencia and Barcelona.
