Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has insisted that he and his teammates are ready for the Premier League clash against Chelsea on Wednesday.
Spurs will head into the London derby at Stamford Bridge on the back of three successive wins in all competitions.
The North London outfit’s recent victory came on Sunday, when they staged a 2-1 comeback victory over Everton at White Hart Lane.
The performance against the Toffees was one of Tottenham’s best of the season, and Kane is confident that they can defeat league leaders Chelsea, who are yet to suffer a single defeat in the English top flight this campaign.
"We're full of confidence,” The London Evening Standard quotes him as saying. “Obviously we are coming off three wins in a row now in all competitions, so we'll take that confidence into the game on Wednesday.
"We're looking to get the result. Obviously Chelsea are going to be trying to do the same at home, but they are missing their main man up front. So they have to change a few things, and we're feeling good.
"The Chelsea game is not the be-all or end-all, but it would add to the great momentum we have at the moment if we could beat them. That is what we want to do, and we will give ourselves the best possible chance."
As Kane points out, the absence of star striker Diego Costa for Chelsea will be a boost for Tottenham. The Spain international is suspended for the match, and this will come as a relief to Spurs.
However, Chelsea do have other players who can rise to the occasion. Didier Drogba can still do the job off the bench, while Loic Remy remains a Premier League standard striker.
Losing Costa, who has scored 11 chances and created 18 chances in 11 league appearances, will be blow for manager Jose Mourinho, but the Portuguese will still have a better team player-for-player.
Playing at home will give Chelsea an advantage, and one suspects that the Blues will be favourites for the match.
