Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic could not help his side to a win against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane at the weekend, but the Bosnia-Herzegovina international put in a solid performance with one key statistic standing out in particular.
Besic one eight duels against Tottenham, doing a solid job in defensive midfield and outperforming the more experienced Garth Barry who won just three.
Considering Everton ultimately lost the match it will be small comfort - if any - that the 22-year-old continued to show he can one day become a vital component in Roberto Martinez's side, but the general consensus from fans is that despite a poor performance from the Toffees Besic and Ross Barkley at least tried to influence the game.
It was Barkley who showed Besic he still has some way to go, winning 13 dues against Tottenham as the Everton youngster did his best to turn the match around.
|Passing Accuracy||Outfield Blocks||Tackles Won||Effective Clearances||Duels Won||Interceptions Won||Mins Played|
Besic splits opinion but given his age, his versatility and the fact that he is yet to put a run of matches together for Everton, there is no reason to believe he cannot prove to be a very astute signing by Martinez.
If he keeps putting his foot in and trying to influence matches as he did against Tottenham, he and Barkley could form quite the partnership in years to come.
