Real Madrid news: €3.7m signing imminent, Mourinho toppled and Ronaldo landmark

Bernabeu Inside

All the latest news from the Santiago Bernabeu, including former Manchester United hero Cristiano Ronaldo’s new feat.

According to Spanish publication AS, Real Madrid have reached a €3.7 million agreement with Real Mallorca for the signing of youngster Marco Asensio.

The exciting winger has been linked with a host of La Liga clubs in recent months, including Barcelona and Madrid rivals Atletico Madrid.

Yet, it is Los Blancos who have reportedly won the race to his signature after agreeing a deal with Mallorca chairman Miguel Angel Nadal.

The Spanish U19 international will complete a five-year deal in January and is expected to remain on loan with the Islanders before joining up with Madrid’s Castilla squad in the summer.

In other news, boss Carlo Ancelotti has toppled Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho’s fabulous 15-match winning streak set in 2011-12 during his three-year stint in the Spanish capital.

Ancelotti, formerly a double-winner with the Blues, has performed wonders since joining the Santiago Bernabeu outfit, and his side’s 2-1 victory over Malaga yesterday was a club record 16th win in a row.

With the Blues currently on a 19-game unbeaten run in all competitions and looking formidable, a possible Champions League clash between the European heavyweights is certainly a match-up worth pondering.

Finally, Madrid’s victory and Ancelotti’s special moment can’t have been completed without former Manchester United hero Cristiano Ronaldo playing his part.

The Portuguese winger failed to get on the scoresheet for the first time in 11 La Liga matches, but he had reason to celebrate as he achieved his 200th victory since swapping the Red Devils for Madrid.
