In the summer of 2013 Liverpool snapped up promising young midfielder Pedro Chirivella from Valencia.
Currently playing in the Liverpool under-21 side he has been a revelation for the club and is even being titled as the 'new Xabi Alonso'. He has even captained the under-18s.
Unfortunately for Liverpool that comparison may go beyond simply his playing style, but also his career path.
Just like Alonso Real Madrid would like to bring him from Liverpool. The 17-year-old was linked with Real in September with in the know Spanish paper Marca - who said:
"Real Madrid's scouting network has as its centre of attention a promising young man currently doing great things at Liverpool: Pedro Chirivella."
For now he has gone nowhere and Liverpool can rest easy over their hot prospect. But the teen would not have helped with some of his comments in a Liverpool interview this week.
He was answering quickfire questions about his life and career when he revealed the person he would most like to meet and his footballing hero are the same person:
Who was your idol growing up?
Person you'd like to meet?
Why not? Zidane is one of the best footballers of all time and certainly the best of a generation. Now however he is a coach, of the Real Madrid B team, where Chirivella would likely play if he moved to Real Madrid in the near future.
So there is no doubt that Real would be a tempting offer for the lad if they came knocking at Liverpool's door.
