Southampton lost 3-0 to Manchester City on Sunday, after Ronald Koeman's side had initially looked like they could take something from their encounter with the reigning champions.
As it was goals from Yaya Toure, Frank Lampard and Gael Clichy ensured Manuel Pellegrini's side travelled back to Manchester with all three points, leap-frogging Southampton in the process.
The Saints may have lost their third Premier League match this season but there was still much to be proud of, including the fact that until the last 10 minutes they could easily have taken something from the game.
The big blow - and potentially game-changing moment - came when midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin was taken off injured at half-time, but his midfield partner Victor Wanyama played his part in an entertaining game.
The 23-year-old Kenyan did his best to stamp his authority on the game even if midfield supremo Yaya Toure ultimately put him in the shade.
But his age and talent are such that Wanyama has a huge future at Southampton, and after the match we took to Twitter to see what fans thought of the player's performance.
Below you can read a selection of what we found:
Morgan off for Yoshida big mistake, why didn't you put Wanyama in the hole and keep back 4 the same Ronald Koeman we can't play as bad again— Paul Traynor (@p7oker) November 30, 2014
Pellè not his usual self. Wanyama and Alderweireld have been the best for me. #SaintsFC— Kristian (@KristianSFCOake) November 30, 2014
Wanyama isn't great. Wastes possession by going for the glory shot.— Francis Metzger (@BearlyYours) November 30, 2014
Wanyama and Alderweireld were great today— Phoebe_Bertram (@phoebesaintsfan) November 30, 2014
Wanyama dictating more of the midfield than Yaya but the latter's goal scoring ability has been on great showcase.— Brian Maina (@mainabrian6) November 30, 2014
