Juan Mata was the cream of the crop as Manchester Untied won three points against Hull on Saturday.
Manchester United beat Hull City 3-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday to cement their current standing in the Premier League top four. Chris Smalling, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie got themselves among the goals, but it was Juan Mata who most impressed.
Handed a rare first-team opportunity, the Spaniard turned in a near perfect performance as the Red Devils brushed aside Steve Bruce's side. Operating in the space behind Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney, he played with optimum efficiency.
In all honesty, this victory proved little more than a training exercise for Louis van Gaal's side. Nonetheless, Mata quickly established himself as the main protagonist, keeping his side ticking over in attack. The Red Devils most influential player in the final third, he fashioned four key passes in total; a match-best.
|Team||Total Att Assist||Goal Assist||Total Scoring Att||Total Pass||Passing Accuracy||Won Tackle GAME||Touches||Appearances||Mins Played|
|Juan Mata||Man Utd||4||0||0||79||91%||3||95||1||90|
While proving his willingness to play high-risk balls, he fulfilled his basic duties without fault. He linked-up extremely well with his teammates, demanding possession in the centre of the park, even when he found himself being marked. By full-time he had recorded an impressive 91% pass completion rate.
He had little in the way of chances at goal, failing to record a single shot throughout his cameo. Having said this, despite their dominance, the entire team managed just 12 attempts in total. Mata ultimately found himself restricted to the role of play-maker, which he fulfilled to perfection.
With this performance, Mata proved he still has plenty to offer Louis van Gaal and Manchester United.
