Southampton's French international midfielder has been talking about their wonderful form.
Ronald Koeman’s side have been nothing short of sensational in the opening months of the campaign, surging to second in the table and looking every inch a side who can qualify for Europe next year.
There is a long way to go, but Mauricio Pochettino’s successor has built a team that can challenge the best of them, and that feeling is the only concern Schneiderlin believes could see them come unstuck.
In an interview with Fifa.com, the French international said, “We’re now so solid that when I look back, I feel like we deserve to be sitting second. Now the risk is that we get too big for our boots.
“But if we keep working with the same mindset, we might well create a huge surprise.”
That really is the key to Southampton’s season: If they start believing the hype it could all implode but if they maintain their fine form, keep working as a team and see where that takes them, there is every chance they could finish the season in the top four.
We should be the ones singing the Saints’ praises; while the players get on with their job.
