Phil Neville & John Hartson expect Southampton to finish in the top four

The BBC pundits are surprisingly confident about the Saints' chances of Champions League qualification.

Phil Neville & John Hartson appear to have very little doubt that Southampton will indeed finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.

The Saints are flying high in second at the moment but many critics feel Ronald Koeman's side will eventually come unstuck.

Not Hartson, however, who says he 'expects' the St Mary's outfit to make the top four, while Neville is also of the opinion that Southampton will be 'in it for the long haul.'

“If they don’t finish in the top four, as a club, they’ll be disappointed. Arsenal and Liverpool are not performing particularly well," Hartson said while on BBC programme Football Focus.

“I expect them to [finish in the top four].”

And former Manchester United and Everton defender Neville said: “Yeah, I do. I think they’re in it for the long haul.

“I think they have the quality and the manager’s been unflappable this season.

“I think they’ll be in contention all season. They’ve got the momentum and they will soon face teams I think they’ll fancy beating.”
