Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson believes that Hull City would have won against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend had they not been reduced to 10 men.
The Tigers lost the Premier League clash at the KC Stadium 2-1 after conceding two goals in the second half.
Gaston Ramirez was controversially sent off for Hull in the opening minutes of the second period, and that allowed Tottenham to stage a comeback.
Hull are back in Premier League action today as they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford, and Merson claims that the Tigers are ‘unlucky’ not to be heading into today’s match on the back of a win.
On the other hand, United edged past Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium last weekend despite not playing well, but Merson backs them to pick up all three points at Old Trafford today.
“If Man United got back on that coach on Saturday and thought that was a good performance at the Emirates, then they better start worrying,” wrote the former England international.
“That could have been any scoreline in the first 30 minutes so you can’t tell me that was good. I think they’ll struggle again here as they haven’t shown any form to change my mind yet. Saying that, I think they’ll just nick it.”
United will head into today’s match placed fourth in the Premier League table with 19 points from 12 matches, while Hull are just a place and a point above the bottom three.
Anything other than a win for United at Old Trafford today will be an upset.
