The former Leeds striker and Fulham loanee made his debut during a 3-0 win at Peterborough United.
It appears things are finally going in a positive direction for Matt Smith.
After being sold to Fulham by Leeds United for £500,000 on Deadline Day in August, the 25-year-old was sent off on his debut for the Cottagers and only managed 38 minutes of game time for the club.
One day later and things are already looking up for Smith. His side won 3-0 at Peterborough United and the former Leeds man made his debut - even if it only lasted a few minutes.
Naturally, the target man was delighted, as he told his Twitter followers after the game:
Thanks to @bcfctweets & the fans for making me feel very welcome these past couple of days. Lovely messages & a great reception tonight too— Matt Smith (@mattjpsmith) November 28, 2014
Lads were superb tonight! Very professional performance. 3 goals, clean sheet, 3 points & league position looking great going into December.— Matt Smith (@mattjpsmith) November 28, 2014
Luke Freeman bagged a brace, while Aaron Wilbraham completed the scoring.
But there is no reason Smith can't find the back of the net himself once he gets his first start for Bristol City.
A successful loan spell, after all, could put him back in contention over at Fulham - and it could also show small signs of life after Leeds for the 25-year-old.
