Everton defender Phil Jagielka has been speaking about his young countryman Harry Kane ahead of the Toffees’ match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Both clubs will have been buoyed by their Europa League victories last week, with Everton overcoming Wolfsburg 2-0 and Tottenham beating Partizan Belgrade 1-0, but it could be a case of whoever recovers quickest from their evening exertions who triumphs this weekend.
Kane has enjoyed a fantastic season to date, scoring 11 goals in 17 appearances, and Jagielka has been impressed by his form.
Speaking to Everton’s official website, the centre-back said, “We’ve had a few boys from Everton in the under-21s and they speak really highly of him.
“Unfortunately he’s not had as many chances in the Premier League as in the Europa League but, when he’s had his chance, he’s taken it.
“It’s great to see, but we always speak about what the youth holds for our country and the future and at the moment the country is doing really well.”
There is little doubt Kane has a big future ahead of him, but for all the praise he has received from a potential Three Lions teammate the Tottenham man is unlikely to get an inch from Jagielka if the two players face off on Sunday.
