David Gold and... Lennox Lewis react on Twitter to West Ham's Newcastle win

The West Ham co-chairman praised Aaron Cresswell, while the former boxing champion also hailed the Hammers on social media.

David Gold was as active as always on Twitter after West Ham United beat Newcastle United at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon.

Aaron Cresswell's second-half winner consigned 10-man Newcastle (who had Moussa Sissoko sent off) to a 1-0 defeat in the Premier League, as the Hammers proved their credentials against tough opposition yet again.

The Magpies had won their last six games in all competitions but stopped short of winning their sixth consecutive league match in east London.

And Gold was quick to praise match-winner Cresswell on Twitter, although the West Ham co-chairman kept things rather simple...

Gold, however, wasn't the only famous face to tweet about Sam Allardyce's men, as former heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis showed his support for the Hammers.

West Ham are now up to fifth in the table and travel to West Brom on Tuesday night, while Newcastle United fall to eighth, with a trip to Burnley on the horizon for Alan Pardew's side.
