Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Koscielny's performance against West Brom

Laurent Koscielny

Laurent Koscielny returned for Arsenal against West Bromwich Albion and not a minute too soon.

Arsenal's defence has come in for quite a battering in recent weeks, from opposing teams, pundits and fans.

With Gunners boss Arsene Wenger persevering with Nacho Monreal as a makeshift centre-back Arsenal suffered some ominous losses, meaning the return of Laurent Koscielny was timely to say the least.

The French international had missed seven games with an Achilles tendon injury before being named on the bench for Arsenal's Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund last week.

But he was finally back on the pitch against West Brom, putting in a display - for the most part at least - that suggested Arsenal's back-line is about to become a whole lot tighter.

With Monreal initially playing in his more natural position and Koscielny partnering Per Mertesacker in the centre, Arsenal kept West Brom at bay, limiting them to just a single shot on target, and earning a much needed clean-sheet after recent defeats to Manchester United and Swansea City and a bizarre capitulation against Anderlecht.

After the match we took to Twitter to see what Arsenal fans thought of their defender's performance and below you can read a selection of what we found:
