Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Stambouli pleased, Spurs apologise to fans

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Benjamin Stambouli was pleased with his performance as Spurs won 1-0 against Partizan to progress to the next stage of the Europa League.

The summer signing from Montpellier put in one of his best performances this season in a match that was stopped more than once because of pitch invaders.

“It was good to celebrate this goal with the fans. We needed to win this game to finish first in the group and now we can think forward. The Europa League is good, even if (it is) only the Europa League,” he told ITV.

Tottenham have apologised for the series of pitch invasions, which saw the match at White Hart Lane delayed by around ten minutes.

“We apologise to fans for the disruptions caused by this totally unacceptable behaviour,” said the club through their official Twitter account.

Serie A club Roma reportedly want to take Vlad Chiriches on loan for the rest of the season.

The Romanian defender has struggled to force his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s first team plans.

Reports suggest they will move to try and secure a deal this January.
