Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen believes that Sergio Aguero will score for Manchester City against Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.
Argentina international striker Aguero has been in sensational form for the Citizens so far this season, and gave a marvellous display against Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek.
The 26-year-old former Atletico Madrid star scored all three goals against the German champions to lead City to a 3-2 victory and retain their chances of progress to the last 16 of the competition.
Owen believes that Aguero will score against Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium and wrote on Betvictor.com: “Southampton travel to the Emirates midweek and we will know a lot more about the Saints’ Champions League aspirations this time next week.
“City striker Sergio Aguero can do little wrong at the moment and, despite the fact that the hosts have only conceded two goals in their last eight PL home games, he might be the difference between the sides.”
Southampton have been hugely impressive in the Premier League so far this campaign and are currently six points behind leaders Chelsea in second place.
The Saints are also two points clear of second-placed City, but on Sunday Ronald Koeman’s side will be the ‘underdogs’.
That does not mean that Southampton cannot stage an upset, but as Owen says, the match against City will show just how good this Saints team really are.
